Falcons flaunt ‘Adire’ ahead WAFCON opener

Defending champions, the Super Falcons, have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing their cultural pride in elegant green-and-white Adire gowns and matching headwraps.

The team embraced the moment off the pitch, with players creating social media content that highlighted their "Rich Aunty Vibes." Esther Okoronkwo, Jennifer Echegini, and Michelle Alozie shared light-hearted videos, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie entertained fans with comic skits. Other players, including Tosin Demehin and Folashade Ijamilusi, also posted photos and videos celebrating their arrival in the colorful attire.

Nigeria's arrival followed a 10-day training camp in Casablanca, where head coach Justine Madugu finalized his squad preparations. The team concluded their preparations with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in an international friendly, boosting their confidence ahead of the tournament.

The Super Falcons, the most successful team in the tournament's history, will commence their Group C campaign against Malawi on Tuesday at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. They are scheduled to play Zambia on Saturday, August 1, and conclude the group stage against Egypt on Wednesday, August 5.

Adding to the excitement, the Nigeria Football Federation unveiled a special 10-star Super Falcons jersey, commemorating the team's record-extending 10 Women's Africa Cup of Nations titles. Each star on the jersey represents one of these victories, symbolizing Nigeria's dominance in African women's football.
