Famellos: 'No Plan B - We stand with Alexis Tsipras'

Sokratis Famellos, a member of the Central Committee, called for unwavering support for Alexis Tsipras's initiative, urging party members to stand "next to" the former prime minister's new endeavor. He stressed that there is no "plan B" and that SYRIZA must not be seen as competitive but rather as a comrade to Tsipras's new party, the Hellenic Left Cooperation.

Famellos acknowledged that Tsipras's departure and the formation of a new party have created significant shifts in the progressive political landscape. He described the Hellenic Left Cooperation as a dynamic force that is changing political alignments and sparking public interest in progressive politics. Famellos insisted that this development should not be met with opposition, calling such a stance a strategic error. He argued that no one is expendable in the struggle for political change and that fragmentation only benefits the current government led by Mitsotakis.

Speaking at a time of "global turmoil, upheavals, and deep uncertainty," Famellos criticized the current Greek government as corrupt and dangerous. He accused it of being associated with scandals, violating the rule of law, and economically harming workers, farmers, and small businesses. He asserted that the government primarily serves powerful interests and is detached from societal needs.

Famellos also addressed internal dissent within SYRIZA, warning against retreat and isolation. He stated that solitary paths are not solutions for societal needs and that personal choices do not constitute a leftist stance.
