Family of Ten Displaced After House Fire Destroys Home

A family of ten is grappling with the devastating loss of their home after a fire ravaged their three-bedroom residence in Tacirua over the weekend. The National Fire Authority received the emergency call around 9:33 PM. Firefighters arrived to find the house completely engulfed in flames.

Crews from Valelevu and Suva collaborated to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent properties. Despite their efforts, the house suffered extensive damage, estimated between 80 and 100 percent. The property was not insured, leaving the family with no financial recourse for rebuilding.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire originated in one of the bedrooms, but the exact cause remains under investigation. Puamau Sowane, the National Fire Authority's Chief Executive Officer, described the incident as a stark reminder of how rapidly fires can escalate and alter lives.
