Farage declares victory in Clacton by-election, cites security threat

Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform UK party, proclaimed victory in the Clacton by-election even before the official results were declared. He announced his win at a party event in Clacton, addressing his supporters.

However, Farage stated he would not attend the official results announcement due to security reasons. He informed his supporters that he had learned of an "organized campaign" aimed at disrupting the election outcome. A spokesperson for Reform UK later elaborated, stating that Essex Police had advised Farage against attending the event because of a "credible threat against him."

The Essex Police confirmed they were conducting an operation in Clacton to ensure the safety of all participants. However, they clarified that no candidate had been advised against attending the vote count. Farage recently resigned his parliamentary seat and had faced scrutiny over controversial donations. The other major parties did not field candidates against him, leaving the satirical candidate Count Binface as his main opponent.
