Farmers hail northern govs’ move to tackle insecurity

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has lauded the Northern Governors’ Forum for its proactive step in establishing the Northern Security Trust Fund. The association specifically praised the forum's commitment to tackle insecurity across the region by pledging N1 billion monthly to the fund. AFAN believes this initiative will significantly improve security in farming communities, thereby encouraging increased agricultural production and strengthening national food security.

AFAN National President Muhammad Gettado commended the governors for their "decisive and visionary step" in addressing the persistent insecurity plaguing the region. He also applauded the inauguration of the fund’s management board, describing its members as individuals with "impeccable character, proven track records, and high integrity." Gettado expressed confidence that these resources would be managed transparently and effectively to achieve lasting peace.

The association views the fund as a critical measure to create a safe and enabling environment for farming activities to thrive once again in northern Nigeria.
