Fatal fire in Kaunas district claims one life

A fire in Samylai village, Kaunas district, early on August 1, resulted in the death of one person. The blaze, reported at 4:18 AM, engulfed a summer house on Dobilėlio Street, with the caller unsure if anyone was inside.

After donning breathing apparatus, a team entered the structure at 4:41 AM and disconnected the electricity supply. At 5:18 AM, a severely burned body was discovered inside the building.

The summer house was completely destroyed by the fire. Additionally, a neighboring residential house located approximately 10 meters away suffered damage. Its double-glazed windows cracked, plastic frames melted, and about 84 square meters of facade plaster detached. A ride-on lawnmower also melted.

Firefighters transported water from the Kaunas Reservoir, located about 4 kilometers from the scene, to combat the blaze. The cause of the fire and further details are under investigation.
