Fatal Highway Crash Near Passau Kills 13-Year-Old, Injures Four

A tragic accident on the A3 highway near Passau has claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl. Four other individuals traveling in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries, according to the Lower Bavaria police department.

The vehicle, carrying five occupants including the 35-year-old driver, veered off the road while traveling towards Austria, descending into an embankment. The young girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Investigators have enlisted a forensic expert to determine the cause of the crash, a process expected to take several weeks. The circumstances leading to the car leaving the roadway remain unclear. Police are particularly interested in a gray sports car that was reportedly in the vicinity at the time of the incident. This vehicle, which apparently sustained no damage, continued towards Austria after the crash. Authorities are searching for the sports car, utilizing a police helicopter, and are appealing to the public for any witnesses who may have information.
