Father investigated for beating 9-year-old son with pipe in Quang Tri

Authorities in Quang Tri province are investigating a father accused of assaulting his 9-year-old son with a plastic pipe, an incident that left the child hospitalized. The father, identified as D.X.H., 34, has since turned himself in to the police.

The boy, D.Q.B., was admitted to Minh Hoa General Hospital on July 20 with severe bruising on his buttocks, back, arms, and face. Initially, the family claimed the injuries were from a fall. However, local authorities launched an investigation after receiving the information.

Mr. H. confessed to the assault on the morning of July 21, explaining that he became enraged upon discovering his son had forgotten his school bag. He admitted to striking the child multiple times with a plastic pipe, resulting in the extensive bruising.

The child was discharged from Minh Hoa General Hospital on July 22 to be transferred to a higher-level medical facility for further assessment of internal injuries. Mr. H. is reportedly an contract employee in the area and resides temporarily with his family in Minh Hoa commune.
