Felda must continue to uplift settlers' dignity: Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for the continued strengthening of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) as an institution dedicated to improving the lives of settlers and their families. He emphasized that the welfare of all generations of settlers must be prioritized alongside efforts to boost Felda's economic competitiveness and ensure its long-term sustainability.

Anwar highlighted the importance of addressing the specific challenges faced by the new generation of settlers. "I emphasize that Felda must continue to be strengthened as an institution that uplifts the dignity of settlers and their families," he stated in a message accompanied by a photograph of him receiving the new Felda Chairman, Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd. Zahir.

The Prime Minister expressed his full confidence in Ahmad Badri's ability to lead Felda's recovery and strengthening initiatives. "The Madani government will continue to provide full support to ensure this people's institution continues to progress and remain relevant for future generations," Anwar added. Ahmad Badri, who has over three decades of experience in public and corporate sectors, including serving as Secretary-General of the Treasury, replaces Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Ahmad Badri's appointment reflects the government's trust in his extensive experience and integrity to lead the strategic organization. His background includes serving on the boards of major national institutions such as Bank Negara Malaysia, Permodalan Nasional Bhd., and Tenaga Nasional Bhd., as well as chairing RHB Bank Bhd. and the Malaysian Rubber Board.
