Female driver dies in Lagos crash after suspected brake failure

A middle-aged woman has died in a single-vehicle accident in Lagos, Nigeria, after her Toyota Sienna reportedly suffered brake failure. The crash occurred on Sunday along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ikeja, when the vehicle veered off the carriageway and collided with a roadside building. The deceased was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded quickly to the scene, cordoning off the area to manage traffic and prevent secondary accidents during the recovery operation. Traffic flow was temporarily disrupted but restored shortly after LASTMA's intervention. Police personnel also provided security support during the evacuation of the vehicle and the deceased.

Bakare-Oki urged drivers to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before traveling, advising prompt attention to any defects. LASTMA extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
