FEO Warns Many May Miss Municipal Vote Due to Separate Registration

The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) is working diligently to ensure the upcoming municipal elections are conducted smoothly and transparently. Deputy Supervisor of Elections Ana Senimoli has emphasized the critical need for voter awareness, as registration for the general election does not carry over to municipal polls. This distinction is crucial, and the FEO is employing color-coded campaigns to simplify information for the public.

The government, through Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa, is fully supporting the FEO's efforts. Legal amendments have been made to align local government laws with the Electoral Act, demonstrating a commitment to a fair electoral process. The administration is keen to hold these elections before the year's end, marking a significant step after a 21-year hiatus for local government elections.
