Festival Ciudad Escénica: Views on the performing arts scene in Limpio, Lambaré, San Lorenzo, and Asunción

The independent theater scene is set to take center stage with the second "Festival Ciudad Escénica," an initiative by Ñakyra Producciones designed to bridge creators from various towns in the Central Department and the capital city of Asunción. From August 11 to 14, the Espacio Cultural Staudt will host eight theater ensembles presenting diverse perspectives on identity, modern relationships, and local dramaturgy.

Operating under the theme "A scenic encounter of united cities," the festival aims to become a vital platform for decentralizing theatrical productions and encouraging direct interaction between artists and the public. This year's event highlights the vibrant theater emerging outside Asunción's traditional circuits, fostering a regional network. Ñakyra Producciones emphasizes that this territorial diversity not only enriches aesthetic languages but also strengthens community alliances among playwrights, directors, and actors.

The festival's agenda promises a marathon of varied performances, blending drama, comedy, and experimental theater. Over four consecutive days, audiences can experience a range of productions, from explorations in the Guaraní language to critical examinations of modern relationships. Notable presentations include Yemina Benítez's "Todo esto es normal (según la encuesta)" from Limpio, an exploration of social expectations, and the Asunción-based Ñe’endy's "La 4ta. Rosa," focusing on poetic and dramatic sensitivity.

Other featured works include Joapy Estudio de Teatro y Compañía's "Contrato Abierto" from Lambaré, which revisits contemporary couple dynamics, and pieces like "La voz de la sombra," "El humo que dejamos," "Nariz Roja," "Yvy Porâite," and "El Último Banquete." Ticket pricing is designed to encourage attendance at multiple shows, with options for single tickets or a day pass for two performances.
