Feyenoord bans fans from next away games after stadium pyrotechnics injure seven

Dutch football club Feyenoord has decided to ban its supporters from attending the team's next two away games against NEC Nijmegen and PEC Zwolle. This measure comes after a significant incident involving pyrotechnics during a recent match in Leeuwarden, which resulted in injuries to seven spectators.

The club stated that the decision was made after extensive deliberation regarding the "completely unacceptable incident with fireworks" in Leeuwarden. During the match, Feyenoord fans ignited a large number of flares and threw them towards other spectators. This action led to the game being temporarily halted for approximately 20 minutes in the first half.

Home fans suffered various injuries, including burns, hearing damage, and eye injuries, as a direct result of the pyrotechnics. Feyenoord now faces the prospect of a substantial penalty from the league authorities due to the misconduct of its traveling supporters.

This ban underscores the club's zero-tolerance policy towards such dangerous behavior and aims to prevent future occurrences. The safety of all spectators remains a primary concern, and the club is taking decisive action to address the issue.
