FG denies rumours of Defence Minister Christopher Musa’s alleged resignation

The Nigerian Federal Government has categorically dismissed as false, rumors circulating on social media alleging that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), is planning to resign. The Minister's office issued a statement on Monday, characterizing the reports as "malicious" and "entirely fabricated," and urged the public to disregard them.

The statement, officially titled "False Rumour Regarding the Honourable Minister of Defence," was signed by Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media. It unequivocally stated that the rumors are "absolute falsehoods borne out of complete mischief." The office emphasized that General Musa remains fully focused on his responsibilities and is committed to executing the Federal Government's national defense and security agenda.

According to the statement, the minister is dedicated to overseeing the nation's defense strategy and fulfilling his mandate. The government also took the opportunity to advise the public and media organizations to verify information through official channels before dissemination. "The general public is hereby urged to disregard this fake news. We strongly advise media outlets and internet users to desist from spreading unverified information and to seek clarification from the office on matters concerning the Minister," the statement added.

The Federal Government reiterated that General Musa continues to hold his position and actively discharge his duties as the Minister of Defence, countering any suggestions of his departure from office.
