FGV strengthens agriculture sector with three new innovations

FGV Holdings Berhad is presenting three new tools as part of its push to modernize Malaysia’s agriculture sector: BacN-Fix, Adjuvax 248 and FGV Geotagger Pro.

The company developed the products through its internal research and development operations. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu launched them during the 2026 Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang.

BacN-Fix uses beneficial bacteria to help crops absorb nutrients more efficiently, supporting root development and plant growth. FGV says it can be used across various crops and has undergone testing under local conditions, including with local rice varieties. The product could also reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers.

Adjuvax 248 is designed to improve the effectiveness of pesticides and herbicides by distributing spray more evenly. FGV said this could reduce waste and repeated applications, improve the efficiency of agricultural inputs, lower operating costs and reduce carbon emissions.

FGV Geotagger Pro provides more accurate and systematic mapping and positioning of plantation areas, with claimed accuracy ranging from one to 10 centimeters. The technology supports precision planting, land mapping and plantation management, and could also be used in agriculture and geospatial applications.

FGV Group Managing Director Nurul Muhaniza Hanafi said modernization required cooperation among multiple parties so technology could become practical solutions for farmers, smallholders and agricultural operators. She said FGV’s research and development work had expanded over more than five decades across planting materials, agronomy, green technology, digitalization and automation. The company’s planting materials now meet more than 40% of Malaysia’s annual demand for germinated oil palm seeds, with production capacity of up to 30 million seeds a year.
