Fiji Agriculture Minister seeks re-election to modernize sector

Fiji's Agriculture Minister, Tomasi Tunabuna, has expressed his desire to seek another term in office, aiming to continue his work on modernizing the nation's agriculture sector. Tunabuna confirmed he has applied for a party ticket with The People's Alliance, emphasizing that the final decision on candidate selection rests with the party leadership.

"Only if I am given the opportunity I will surely come back. There is a lot of plans to modernize the Agriculture sector so if I’m given the opportunity I will be more than happy to come back," Tunabuna stated, highlighting his commitment to further developing Fiji's agricultural landscape.

Tunabuna's application for a party ticket is part of a broader trend within The People's Alliance. The party is seeing significant interest from its current Members of Parliament, many of whom have also applied for tickets to contest the upcoming general election. Additionally, the party has received expressions of interest from several independent MPs, indicating a potential shift in political alliances ahead of the election.
