Fiji cocoa industry targets global demand

Fiji's cocoa industry is poised for growth as local exporter Cacao Fiji aims to expand its reach and boost international shipments. The company plans to engage thousands of farmers to increase production and meet the substantial global demand for cocoa.

Founder Arif Khan stated that Cacao Fiji recently exported one metric ton of cocoa to the United States. He noted that the demand for cocoa in the global market significantly outstrips current supply. This export success underscores the potential for Fijian cocoa to capture a larger share of international markets.

The expansion strategy involves bringing more local farmers into the cultivation process, which is expected to significantly increase export volumes. This move not only supports the agricultural sector but also positions Fiji as a growing player in the international cocoa trade.
