Fiji Gifts Pacific Youth Anthem to Region

A new song composed by young Fijians is poised to become a powerful anthem for Pacific youth, carrying messages of unity, hope, and empowerment throughout the region. The "Pacific Youth Anthem" was officially presented to the Pacific Community by Fiji's Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru.

Created by Fiji's National Youth Band, the anthem will officially represent the Pacific Youth Development Framework. It aims to encapsulate the aspirations and shared experiences of young people across 14 Pacific Island nations. Minister Saukuru expressed his pleasure in handing over the anthem, highlighting Fiji's dedication to regional cooperation and ensuring that young people are central to development efforts in the Pacific.

The anthem is expected to bolster a sense of regional identity among Pacific youth and stimulate greater collaboration. Established in 1995, Fiji's National Youth Band has provided a platform for musically talented young individuals, particularly those who have exited the formal education system. The band has gained recognition as a cultural ambassador for Fiji, performing at significant events both domestically and internationally.

This anthem symbolizes the resilience, creativity, and ambitions of the next generation of Pacific leaders. Given that young people constitute a substantial portion of the region's population, organizers anticipate the song will inspire a more interconnected and empowered Pacific. The "Pacific Youth Anthem" will now be promoted across member countries as the official song of the Pacific Youth Development Framework.
