Fijians will shape People First party manifesto: Seruiratu

Fiji's new People First Party plans to craft its policy platform by engaging directly with citizens across the nation. Party leader Inia Seruiratu emphasized that the manifesto will be shaped by the perspectives and priorities of everyday Fijians, ensuring the party's policies reflect the needs and concerns of the communities it aims to represent.

"We are well aware of issues confronting us as a nation and some of your concerns and challenges. We do not have a party manifesto at the moment because we first need to consult and hear you. We are people first. Your choices and proposals are important in the formulation of our party manifesto," Seruiratu stated. He added that the party currently lacks a formal manifesto, prioritizing consultation to understand the challenges faced by people nationwide.

The consultation process is set to begin immediately, providing a platform for individuals to share their ideas and expectations from the emerging political movement. Seruiratu highlighted that the party's core approach will be centered on active listening, ensuring that its policies genuinely address community needs before any commitments are made public.

During its launch, the People First Party also revealed 15 provisional candidates. Notably, several current members of parliament, including Virendra Lal, Hem Chand, and Jone Usamate, have been named to the party's board of governors, signaling a blend of established political figures and new initiatives within the party's structure.
