Finnish police seize 260,000 doses of 'thumb' drug

Finnish police have concluded a major investigation into a drug trafficking operation, arresting three Estonian citizens suspected of importing and distributing narcotics. The Central Criminal Police (KRP) announced the seizure of approximately 6.5 kilograms of alpha-PVP, commonly known as 'thumb,' which amounts to roughly 260,000 doses.

In addition to the alpha-PVP, the operation resulted in the confiscation of about 14.5 kilograms of amphetamine, 20 kilograms of marijuana, 85 grams of cocaine, and 160 liters of GBL, often referred to as 'lacquer.' A significant sum of 18,000 euros in cash was also seized.

Authorities believe the suspects distributed around 7.5 kilograms of alpha-PVP, three kilograms of cocaine, 19 kilograms of marijuana, and 1.5 kilograms of amphetamine before their May arrests. They are also suspected of transferring at least 196,000 euros in cash to leaders of a larger criminal group. The KRP indicated that the suspects may have been directed from abroad.

Investigators highlighted the scale and professionalism of the operation, noting that the 6.5-kilogram seizure of alpha-PVP is substantial for Finland. The 160 liters of GBL also represent the largest single quantity of this substance ever confiscated by Finnish police.
