Finnish Resort Hides Gold Bar for Summer Treasure Hunt

The Levi ski resort in Finland's Lapland region, famous for its winter activities and Santa Claus Village, is launching an innovative summer attraction: a treasure hunt for a gold bar valued at 20,000 euros (approximately $217,000 USD).

Starting June 18, visitors will embark on a quest across Levi, following a series of clues that will lead them to various summer points of interest. These clues are designed to guide participants through hiking trails, cycling routes, and other seasonal activities unique to the Arctic summer, a period characterized by the midnight sun.

Satu Pesonen, CEO of Visit Levi, explained the initiative's purpose: "Levi has long been famous primarily for its winter, but the summer in this northern region is still quite new to many tourists. We want to give tourists a new reason to visit Levi during the time when the sun never sets and the fells here show a completely different beauty."

The treasure hunt is structured to be accessible, with no digging required. Participants must adhere to designated search areas. The final clue will be revealed on August 22, and the gold bar can be found at any time before then. This event aims to highlight Lapland's appeal beyond its snowy reputation, showcasing the distinct charm of the region during its summer months when daylight extends around the clock.
