Fiorella Gatti achieves Paraguay's best-ever showing at Junior World Squash Championship

Fiorella Gatti has achieved a historic milestone for Paraguayan squash, securing the 23rd position at the 2026 World Junior Individual Squash Championship in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada. Competing against 76 athletes in the women's division, Gatti's performance surpasses the previous best by a Paraguayan, which was Luján Palacios's 33rd place finish in 2017.

Throughout the tournament, Gatti demonstrated a high level of play, advancing through multiple rounds and establishing herself among the world's top junior players. The championship brought together promising young talent from across the globe, highlighting the competitive landscape of the sport.

With little time to rest, Gatti is already focused on her upcoming challenges. She is set to participate in the Senior Pan American Squash Championship from August 15-22 in Asunción, Paraguay. Following this, she will represent Paraguay in the Odesur Rosario 2026 Games, scheduled for September in Argentina, where she aims to continue her international development.

Gatti's 23rd-place finish in Canada underscores the growing strength of Paraguayan squash and positions her as a key figure for future continental competitions.
