Fire at Arad Social Center Causes Smoke Inhalation for Three Patients

Three elderly residents were hospitalized after a fire erupted at a care center in Arad, Romania, early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred at a facility on Calea Aurel Vlaicu, led to smoke inhalation and panic attacks among the affected patients.

According to representatives of the care center, the blaze began when one of the patients allegedly set fire to newspapers in a room. The fire quickly spread to a mattress, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The local fire department activated the Red Plan of intervention, a protocol for major emergencies.

The situation was managed quickly, and for safety, three patients were transferred to the hospital for evaluation and transferred back to the medical center, everything is fine with the patients. Fortunately, the other patients did not suffer injuries.

Firefighters arrived swiftly and managed to extinguish the fire, which was initially concentrated on a mattress in one of the rooms. Three patients, conscious and cooperative, were evacuated by firefighters and received medical attention on-site. While they suffered minor smoke inhalation and panic attacks, they were transported to the hospital for further evaluation before being returned to the center.

Fortunately, the rapid response prevented the fire from spreading further, and the remaining residents and staff were unharmed. The center's representatives assured that the situation is under control and thanked the medical personnel and authorities for their swift intervention. Firefighters are investigating the probable cause of the incident. This event follows a similar incident at Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest just days prior, where a patient allegedly set a mattress on fire.
