Fire Department: Saxony-Anhalt Equips Fire Brigades

Saxony-Anhalt is reinforcing its commitment to public safety by continuing its support for municipalities acquiring new fire engines. The state's Interior Ministry announced that communities can expect to receive modern, high-performance vehicles procured centrally by the state in the coming years. This initiative aims to ensure fire departments are equipped to respond effectively in emergencies. To date, 78 vehicles have already been ordered, with deliveries scheduled for 2027, funded by state resources. An additional 54 vehicles are planned for 2028. Looking ahead, approximately 10 million euros in state funding will be available for a further 50 vehicle orders in 2029. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang emphasized the critical role of robust fire services, stating, "Fire protection is a central pillar of public safety. To ensure our fire departments can help quickly and safely in an emergency, equipping them with modern and efficient vehicles is essential." The ministry has already sent funding contracts for 50 vehicles to municipalities, which must be signed by August 21 to secure the support. From 2021 to 2026, the state's financial aid facilitated the procurement of nearly 290 fire engines. This year alone, over 25 million euros are earmarked for municipal fire protection, supplemented by an additional 5 million euros from the federal government's special infrastructure fund.
