Fire destroys Pepsi warehouse and 40 delivery trucks in Matamoros

A devastating fire consumed a Pepsi bottling plant and 40 delivery trucks in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, during the early hours of Tuesday. The massive blaze, which broke out at the facility on Marte R. Gómez Avenue, spread rapidly, overwhelming initial efforts to control it.

Fortunately, authorities reported that no individuals were injured or killed in the incident. The primary concern shifted to containing the fire, which required the assistance of the Matamoros Fire Department and other emergency services.

In a coordinated effort, various agencies including the Navy, National Defense, State Guard, municipal public security, the water and drainage board, and volunteer groups provided crucial support. Mayor José Alberto Granados expressed gratitude for the collaborative response, which successfully brought the fire under control around 3:23 a.m.

Firefighters continue to work at the scene, carrying out removal and cooling operations to eliminate any risk of the fire reigniting. The extent of the damage to the facility and the remaining fleet of delivery trucks is significant.
