Fire Rages for Third Day at Coupang Incheon Logistics Center; Evacuation Order Issued

A fire at a Coupang logistics center in Incheon, South Korea, has been burning for three consecutive days, proving difficult to extinguish. The blaze began on the sixth floor of the facility in Seoknam-dong, Seogu district. Firefighters have been battling the flames since receiving the report early on July 18, but the sheer volume of flammable household goods stacked on multi-level shelves has fueled the intense fire and smoke.

Despite the deployment of national firefighting resources, the fire has persisted for over 48 hours. The scale of the blaze and the nature of the materials involved have presented significant challenges to containment efforts. The situation has escalated to the point where authorities have issued an evacuation order for an area within a 116-meter radius of the logistics center.

This precautionary measure was enacted due to concerns about the structural integrity of the building. Officials fear the intense heat and prolonged burning could lead to a building collapse, posing a severe risk to nearby residents and emergency personnel. The evacuation order took effect at 11 p.m. on July 19, signaling the gravity of the ongoing fire crisis.
