Fire razes two buildings in Kano

Kano State Fire Service personnel responded to two distinct fire incidents on Monday, successfully containing both blazes. The first fire occurred at an Access Bank branch in Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, around 1:17 pm. Firefighters from the Dawanau station arrived to find a one-story building engulfed in flames, primarily affecting a Mikano generator and slightly damaging an electrical transformer. They managed to prevent the fire from spreading within the bank premises.

Firefighters from the Dawanau Fire Station immediately responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene to find a one-storey building measuring about 100 by 80 feet being used as a bank.

The second incident took place at approximately 6:19 pm in a residential building in Sabuwar Gandu, Sheka Gari, Kumbotso Local Government Area. Firefighters from the Sharada Industrial Area Fire Station responded and brought the fire under control in the ground-floor building, which affected two bedrooms, a parlor, and a kitchen. Support from nearby factories aided in containing this blaze.

The fire affected a Mikano generator, which was fully engulfed, while an electrical transformer was slightly affected.

Both incidents are currently under investigation to determine their causes. The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged the public to remain vigilant and adopt proactive fire prevention measures. He specifically advised households to equip their homes with functional fire extinguishers and adhere to basic fire safety guidelines.

The responding firefighters successfully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the bank building.
