Firefighters pause for prayer amid Indonesia's forest fires

In the midst of battling raging forest fires in Sekunder C, Rasau Jaya 3, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, personnel from Manggala Agni Daops Kalimantan VIII/Pontianak found a moment to fulfill their religious obligations.

The firefighters paused their arduous work to perform prayers amidst the smoke-filled landscape and burning peatlands. This brief respite highlights the unwavering determination of the officers engaged in the critical task of handling the forest and land fires (karhutla).

The Ministry of Forestry has deployed a significant force of 758 Manggala Agni personnel. This contingent is further bolstered by an additional 45 personnel from various regions including Java, Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan. Their combined efforts are focused on tackling the karhutla crisis, with a particular emphasis on the affected areas in West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.

These dedicated individuals navigate challenging conditions, including dense smoke, treacherous peatland terrain, and the persistent threat of fires re-emerging from beneath the ground. Their commitment extends beyond the physical battle against the flames, encompassing the spiritual fortitude required to persevere in such demanding circumstances.
