Firefighters rescue students from flooded school in Albrook

A sudden downpour in Panama City caused significant flooding on Broadway street in Albrook, trapping students and staff at a local school. The heavy rain, though not prolonged, led to water levels so high that access to the school, as well as the First Lady's office and a Udelas faculty building located on the same street, was completely cut off. Members of the Fire Department responded to the scene to assist administrative personnel in rescuing the children and adolescents, who were just beginning their school day. Parents received internal messages about the flooding and later confirmation from authorities that the students were safe and sheltered. Several parents described the event as more frightening than dangerous, noting it was the first time such a situation had occurred in the area. Vehicles, particularly sedans, were unable to navigate the flooded street. Firefighters advised that in similar situations, people should contact emergency services, remain calm, follow the instructions of response teams, and avoid entering flooded areas. Broadway street is situated very close to the Curundú River, and an inspection of the area revealed that several other streets in Albrook were also inundated, with Broadway being the most severely affected.
