First Grade Admissions: Over 2,000 Spots Remain in Bishkek Schools

Kyrgyzstan is nearing the completion of its first-grade enrollment for the 2026/2027 academic year, with a total of 126,000 children registered nationwide. The capital city, Bishkek, has seen a significant intake, enrolling approximately 24,200 young students.

Within Bishkek, the enrollment figures show a near-even distribution between the two primary languages of instruction. Around 12,900 students are set to attend classes taught in Kyrgyz, while over 11,300 will be in Russian-language classes. Despite the high enrollment numbers, there are still 2,200 available places in the capital, with 1,200 in Kyrgyz-language classes and 992 in Russian-language classes.

The electronic registration process, which commenced on April 1, initially prioritized students within their designated microdistricts. However, the system has since opened up for registration based on available spots in schools regardless of a student's residence. This open registration period is scheduled to conclude in August, ensuring all eligible children have the opportunity to secure a place.
