First Hajj Pilgrims from Pondok Gede Arrive in Indonesia

The first contingent of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims from the Pondok Gede embarkation center safely returned to Indonesian soil on Monday night. Arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the 391 pilgrims were directed to Terminal 2F, which is designated for Hajj and Umrah arrivals and departures.

This arrival signifies the commencement of the Indonesian Hajj return journey through Soekarno-Hatta Airport. One of the pilgrims, Irfan Abu Musa, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform the Hajj, describing the experience as extraordinary, especially traveling with his father. He highlighted the mutual support among pilgrims during rituals like tawaf and lempar jumrah, which contributed to the smooth completion of their pilgrimage.

Alhamdulillah, I feel grateful to be able to perform the Hajj this year, a blessing because I departed with my father. It was all an extraordinary experience.

Airport officials have ensured that necessary facilities are in place to facilitate the pilgrims' return. Yudis Tiawan, Assistant Deputy of Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, confirmed the arrival of the first group and mentioned that subsequent flights would carry more pilgrims. Terminal 2F is equipped with ample waiting areas and dedicated immigration services to expedite the process.

To manage the flow of arrivals and ensure a comfortable experience, airport authorities have urged families of the pilgrims not to pick them up directly at the airport. Instead, they are advised to follow the established procedures and wait at their respective embarkation points. Throughout June 2026, Soekarno-Hatta Airport anticipates handling 84 Hajj groups, totaling 34,843 returning pilgrims.
