First Teaser Released for "Aitmatov" Film About Kyrgyz Writer

A teaser trailer has been released for "Aitmatov," a new feature film celebrating the life and literary journey of the renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov. The film is slated for release on October 22, 2026.

Directed by Kanybek Kalmatov, the movie will delve into Aitmatov's formative years, including the profound loss of his father, Torekul Aitmatov, and his subsequent emergence as a celebrated writer. The narrative promises to explore the influences and experiences that shaped his literary path.

Young actors portray Aitmatov in his childhood, with Nurislam Nadyrov taking on the role. Abylai Marat uulu plays his father, and Arina Isakova portrays his mother, Nagima Aitmatova. Other cast members include Marat Amiraev as Almaz Karaev and Emil Esenaliev as Kasym Tynystanov. The film also features prominent Russian actors Sergey Bezrukov, who plays Boris Pasternak, and Ravshana Kurkova, who portrays Zinaida Pasternak.
