Uzbekistan forms blogger council under Journalists Union

A new creative council for bloggers has been formed under the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, aiming to consolidate the country's burgeoning blogging community. The council's mandate includes uniting bloggers, safeguarding their professional interests, offering legal assistance, and facilitating training programs.

Shuhratjon Oripov, chairman of the professional media workers' association, highlighted the significant role bloggers now play alongside traditional media in shaping public opinion and disseminating information rapidly. He stated that the council is designed to create a unified platform for bloggers, fostering dialogue with government bodies and other institutions, and supporting their professional growth.

The initiative also focuses on protecting bloggers' rights, providing consultations, and offering legal support when they encounter issues with information access, threats, or pressure. Furthermore, the council plans to organize workshops, training sessions, and courses on media literacy, legal and ethical standards, and digital security for members of the blogosphere.
