Five Candidates Named for PBNU Chairmanship, with Gus Kikin Leading the Vote

KH Abdul Hakim Mahfud, known as Gus Kikin, emerged as the leading candidate for chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama’s central executive board after receiving 472 votes at the organization’s congress in Jombang.

Four other candidates also qualified: KH Zulfa Mustafa with 262 votes, KH Abdul Salam with 261, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf with 258, and KH Abdul Ghofar Rozin with 155. The five names will be submitted to Rais Aam-elect KH Miftachul Akhyar for written approval before going to the Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi, the body that will decide the chairmanship.
