Five detained in Ankara investigation into woman's body found by roadside

An investigation into the murder of Gülay Akgün M., whose body was discovered near İmrahor Creek in Ankara's Çankaya district on July 30, has led to five arrests. The victim was identified after initial findings confirmed she had been killed.

The investigation, coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, initially resulted in the arrest of a suspect identified as K.Y. This suspect was later imprisoned after providing statements that prompted authorities to broaden the scope of the inquiry.

Following leads from K.Y.'s testimony, police teams conducted technical and physical surveillance, culminating in an operation in the Keskin district of Kırıkkale. There, another murder suspect, identified as K.A., was apprehended.

In addition to K.A., four other individuals – A.A., S.D., F.B., and C.Y. – were arrested on charges of 'harboring a fugitive.' The legal proceedings for all five suspects, including the primary murder suspect K.A., are currently ongoing at the police department.
