Five Lebanese Soldiers Injured in Explosion of ‘Suspicious Object’ in South

Five Lebanese soldiers were lightly wounded on Sunday by the explosion of a "suspicious object" in southern Lebanon. The troops were engaged in escorting residents back to their town of Kafra, located in the Bint Jbeil region, when the blast occurred.

These soldiers were part of an operation to clear border areas of war remnants and potential dangers. The army has established checkpoints in designated hazardous zones near the border with Israel. The incident took place while Israeli forces were escalating operations in the Ali al-Taher heights in Nabatieh, involving artillery fire and intense drone activity, according to local media reports.

Lebanese media reported multiple explosions in the area. The National News Agency also documented explosions carried out by Israeli forces in several towns, including Kounine, al-Taybe, and Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh. Security sources in southern Lebanon indicated that Israel has conducted over 1,000 detonations and explosions in the region since the start of the current conflict on March 2. An Israeli military spokesperson stated that their forces have destroyed over 1,200 Hezbollah infrastructure sites in eight months.
