Five Suspected in Karawang Gay Party Case; Investigation Continues

Authorities in Karawang, West Java, have named five young men as suspects in connection with a reported gay party held at the Theater Night Mart, a local entertainment venue. The individuals, identified by their initials DA (23), SA (23), R (21), and AH (20), are facing charges related to public indecency. A fifth suspect, IH (20), remains at large, with police actively pursuing his apprehension.

According to Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki Ardiansyah, the suspects were apprehended at their respective homes early Tuesday morning. The arrests followed the viral circulation of a video depicting men embracing, which had caused public unease. "The alleged perpetrators were secured after a video showing alleged acts of indecency in public went viral on various social media platforms," Ardiansyah stated.

The investigation indicates the events unfolded starting late Saturday night when four suspects and a witness, identified as S, gathered at R's residence in Telukjambe Timur. Later, R received information that IH was at the Theater Night Mart. The group initially decided to seek another venue as the nightclub was reportedly crowded. However, IH subsequently contacted R, informing him of an available table, prompting the group to return to the Theater Night Mart. It was there they allegedly reconvened with SA and another individual, who is still being sought by police, and consumed alcoholic beverages, leading to their intoxicated state.
