Flávio Bolsonaro Vows Return as President at Barretos Rodeo, Defends Agribusiness

Presidential hopeful Flávio Bolsonaro addressed a large crowd at the Barretos Rodeo, a prominent agricultural event, asserting his intention to return in 2027 as president, accompanied by his father, Jair Bolsonaro. The former president is currently under house arrest following a conviction related to attempts to overturn the 2022 election results.

Flávio Bolsonaro, accompanied by São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, strongly advocated for the agribusiness sector, describing it as the "heart of Brazil." He vowed to combat what he termed attacks on the sector, stating, "Our agro has been very attacked, it has become almost sick. But we will not lower our heads, we will rescue our agro, agro will once again be the great world pride."

The senator's appearance at the event, which draws tens of thousands, marked another convergence between right-wing politics and the country's agricultural and country music scene. His father, Jair Bolsonaro, had been absent from the event the previous year. The speech also occurred shortly after the release of a Datafolha poll indicating a close race between Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro in the first round of the presidential election.
