Flávio Cries Reading Letter to Bolsonaro After Moraes Blocks Father's Day Visit

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) shared an emotional video showing him weeping as he penned a letter to his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro. The public display of emotion comes after a Supreme Court ruling denied the children's request to visit their father, who is currently under house arrest, on Father's Day. Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) deemed the request "prejudiced," citing a prior decision on July 17 that suspended all visits for 30 days, allowing only medical, physical therapy, and lawyer consultations.

In the video, Flávio expressed his anguish over the court's decision. "Prohibiting a child from visiting a father or a father from hugging his children on Father's Day is inhumane, insane, unjust, and sad," he stated, adding, "There is no evil that lasts forever." He read from the letter he was writing, explaining that he couldn't give his father the hug he desired. The senator mentioned receiving updates on his father's health and mood through other lawyers, noting that visits were not scheduled for Saturdays.

The letter itself revealed Bolsonaro's past directive to Flávio, designating him as the spokesperson to "rid Brazil of corruption, violence, and impoverishment." Flávio recounted his activities in Itapetininga, São Paulo, upon learning of the denied request, emphasizing his continued commitment to his father's political legacy. He shared his daily inquiries about his father's well-being, relaying the information he receives from legal representatives.

Beyond the personal appeal, Flávio addressed his presidential campaign. He acknowledged that several centrist parties, including Republicanos, PP, União Brasil, and Podemos, had declared neutrality regarding his candidacy. However, he asserted that despite the lack of formal endorsements, key leaders from these parties were supporting him. Flávio also spoke of visualizing Bolsonaro bestowing the presidential sash upon him, should he win the election next year, underscoring his ambition and continued connection to his father's political movement.
