Floating body found in Tainan river, possibly a man who fell in days ago

Authorities in Tainan, Taiwan, have recovered a body from the Sanye River in Rende District, following an intensive three-day search operation. The discovery came after witnesses reported seeing a man struggling in the river near Jitan Bridge last Saturday. Emergency services were immediately dispatched, but the man could not be found at the initial location, leading rescuers to believe he had been swept downstream.

The search efforts were significantly hampered by continuous heavy rainfall and the resulting strong currents in the Sanye River, which had caused widespread flooding in the area. Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters persisted in their search along the riverbanks for three consecutive days. Their dedication paid off when they located what appeared to be a floating body in a middle section of the river.

Recovering the body proved difficult due to the swift water. Firefighters carefully monitored the drifting target and eventually found it in the Erren River, where it merges with the Sanye River. The identity of the man is currently under investigation, though preliminary estimates place his age between 40 and 50. He was described as having a flat haircut and wearing dark underwear. Police are appealing for family members to come forward to identify the deceased and are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident, including whether the recovered body is indeed the same individual seen falling into the water.
