Flooding hits Cepu, impacting dozens of homes due to river overflow

Flooding has inundated the sub-district of Cepu in Blora Regency, Central Java, submerging dozens of homes after heavy rains caused rivers to overflow. The disaster management agency (BPBD) of Blora Regency reported no casualties from the incident.

The intense rainfall led to the overflow of the Ngareng and Tamansiswa rivers, pushing floodwaters into residential areas. According to Agung Triyono, a member of the rapid response team for BPBD Blora, houses in several locations within Cepu sub-district were affected.

In Cepu Village, 35 homes in RW 01, Ngareng Sawahan neighborhood, experienced water levels between 30 and 60 centimeters. Meanwhile, in Balun Village, five homes in RW 11, Gang Swadaya, Tukbuntung neighborhood, were also impacted, with water depths ranging from 30 to 70 centimeters.

BPBD Blora has conducted assessments and data collection, while also assisting in the evacuation of affected residents. Coordination with relevant agencies is ongoing for further handling of the situation. Despite challenges posed by strong currents and high river discharge, floodwaters in several areas have reportedly begun to recede, and no residents have been displaced.
