FM links regional security to restoration of Palestinian rights

Egypt believes that enduring peace and stability in the Middle East hinge on the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate and inalienable rights. Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty articulated this stance during a meeting with a delegation from the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP). The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Conference in Cairo, a joint initiative by the UN committee and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf reported that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing its critical role in achieving regional peace and stability. The minister also highlighted the importance of implementing the U.S. president's peace plan. He specifically condemned ongoing Israeli activities in the West Bank, citing settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated violations of holy sites within the occupied Palestinian territories.

Abdelatty urged the UN committee to continue its efforts in mobilizing international support within the United Nations framework to ensure adherence to international law. Members of the CEIRPP delegation expressed their appreciation for Egypt's consistent and long-standing support for Palestinian rights in international forums.
