Fog to clear: Inumet forecasts 'dry air mass' with 'scarce cloudiness'

Uruguay is set to experience a significant weather change this weekend, moving from foggy conditions to drier air with minimal cloud cover. The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) predicts the end of persistent fog, ushering in clearer skies by Sunday.

The transition begins Friday with partly cloudy skies and potential fog and mist. Saturday will continue to see fog, but a cold front is expected to move in by evening, bringing light rain to the southern and eastern coastal regions. This front will continue its advance on Sunday, with scattered showers expected south of the Río Negro.

However, the weather is forecast to improve significantly by Sunday afternoon as a mass of dry air moves in, promising ample sunshine and reduced cloudiness. This shift marks the end of the current damp and overcast spell.

Temperatures are also set to drop. Saturday's forecast ranges between 19°C and 7°C. By Sunday, the mercury will fall further, with expected temperatures between 16°C and a chilly 4°C. This cooling trend accompanies the arrival of drier air and clearer skies, signaling a more typical late-season weather pattern.
