Ford Unveils New Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible, First Open-Top Performance Model in 12 Years

Ford has officially launched the Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible, a highly anticipated addition to its performance lineup. This marks the first time since the 2014 Shelby GT500 Convertible that a Mustang performance model has been offered in an open-top configuration. The new convertible aims to deliver an exhilarating driving experience, combining raw power with the freedom of open-air motoring.

The Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible largely mirrors the design of its hardtop counterpart, incorporating significant aerodynamic upgrades. These include a redesigned hood with integrated vents to enhance engine cooling and a distinctive ducktail spoiler on the rear decklid. This combination, along with a fixed rear wing, generates up to 281 kilometers of downforce at high speeds, contributing to superior handling and stability.

Inside, the convertible's cockpit echoes the GTD's performance-oriented theme. It features a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel and is adorned with carbon fiber trim and Alcantara suede, creating a race-inspired atmosphere. For an even more aggressive feel, buyers can opt for Recaro racing seats.

Under the hood lies the heart of this performance machine: a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine shared with the ultimate Mustang, the GTD. This powerhouse delivers a formidable 795 horsepower and 91.8 kg-m of torque. The engine's output is only slightly less than the GTD's, ensuring thrilling acceleration. The convertible is equipped with a MagneRide adaptive suspension system and an adjustable traction control system. Furthermore, the suspension has been specifically retuned for the convertible variant, promising a unique and engaging driving dynamic for this top-down muscle car.
