Forecaster: Warm weather will reach Lithuania, but conditions will worsen midweek

Lithuania will briefly turn warm before a wetter and windier spell arrives in the middle of the week, according to forecaster Ineta Daunoravičiūtė.

Tuesday will be sunny across much of the country, although thicker clouds may appear in places. Western districts could see brief evening rain, while southerly winds will strengthen to 7-12 meters per second. Temperatures will range from 8-13°C overnight and reach 20-25°C during the day.

Wednesday night will remain mostly clear, with brief rain possible mainly in the west. During the day, a cold atmospheric front will move across the country, bringing brief rain in many districts and thunderstorms in some areas. Temperatures will reach a summerlike 23-28°C, although western areas will be cooler at about 19-22°C.

In many districts, brief rain is forecast, in some places with thunderstorms. The wind will gradually change direction, turning from the west and northwest, and will remain moderate.

Thursday will bring considerably more rain, including heavy showers overnight and during the day. Skies will remain cloudy in many places, with heavy rain and thunderstorms possible. Temperatures will fall to 15-20°C during the day, though some eastern districts could reach 25°C. Westerly winds will also strengthen.

Rain will persist on Friday, but daytime showers will be brief and local. Westerly winds will increase to 9-14 meters per second, and daytime temperatures will stay at a distinctly autumnal 15-20°C. Daunoravičiūtė expects calmer weather from Saturday, with easing winds, less rain and drier conditions. Temperatures will range from 6-11°C overnight to 17-21°C during the day.
