Forecasters issue latest update as rain and thunderstorms approach Lithuania

Short showers will sweep across much of Lithuania, with a greater chance of rain in the north and heavier falls possible in the west. Local thunderstorms may also develop as a strong southwest wind moves through the country.

Temperatures during the day are expected to reach 18 to 23 C. Another atmospheric front will reach the western edge of the country on Friday night, bringing more showers and locally heavy rain.

Friday will remain mostly cloudy, with only limited breaks. Rain will fall in many areas, more intensely in the northwest, while some locations may hear thunder. Strong, occasionally gusty southwest and south winds will continue, and coastal gusts may reach 15 to 18 meters per second. Overnight lows are forecast at 11 to 16 C, with daytime temperatures of 17 to 22 C.
