Forest fire in Turkey spreads to new district; other blazes contained

A forest fire that erupted in Gömeç, Balıkesir, has spread to the Bergama district of İzmir, fueled by strong winds. The blaze, particularly active in the Demircidere and Okçular neighborhoods, is being fought by a combined force of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and Forest Regional Directorate teams, utilizing numerous personnel and both air and ground vehicles.

Support for the firefighting efforts includes fire tankers distributed by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to local headmen, as well as water tankers from various municipal units and district municipalities. These resources are crucial in the ongoing battle to contain the fire. The teams' intensive work has successfully prevented the flames from reaching homes in the Hacıveliler and Tıfıllar neighborhoods.

While the fire continues to affect the Kozak Plateau area, firefighting operations are proceeding without interruption. Meanwhile, two separate fires that broke out in Çandarlı during the night have been brought under control. One fire near Eyko Site was contained before reaching residential areas, and another that threatened nearby homes around 4:00 AM was also quickly managed by emergency crews.

The efforts are focused on controlling the spread of the fire in the Bergama region and ensuring the safety of residents, while the successful containment of the Çandarlı fires provides some relief.
