Forest Fire Rages Near Bad Schwalbach; Difficult Extinguishing Efforts Underway

Firefighters are engaged in a large-scale operation to combat a forest fire near Bad Schwalbach, Germany. At its peak, the blaze consumed an area equivalent to about three football fields, approximately 20,000 square meters. Initially a full forest fire, burning up to the treetops, the fire has now been reduced to a ground fire. However, a "spot fire" has emerged, requiring further investigation with a drone to determine the best course of action. The extinguishing efforts are proving challenging due to the fire's location deep within the forest, making access difficult for emergency crews. Approximately 150 firefighters from across the Rheingau-Taunus district have been deployed, with support from a firefighting helicopter. Authorities are working to establish a consistent water supply to the remote woodland area. During the operation, one firefighter experienced a heatstroke and sustained minor injuries. Officials state there is no current danger to the public, as the fire remains distant from inhabited areas. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
