Forest fire smoke blankets West Kalimantan, hotspots still monitored in three districts

Smoke from widespread forest and land fires is enveloping West Kalimantan, Indonesia, as authorities intensify efforts to combat the blazes. Hotspots continue to be detected across three districts, posing a significant environmental challenge.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Kalimantan Province, in collaboration with relevant agencies, is actively monitoring the situation. Aerial patrols are being conducted using a Bell 206L4 helicopter belonging to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

These patrols are specifically targeting areas in Kubu Raya, Kayong Utara, and Ketapang regencies, where numerous fire locations have been identified. The objective is to expedite the identification of fire sources, enhance coordination for suppression efforts, and proactively prevent the further expansion of the fires, particularly during the ongoing dry season.
