Former Dinamo player Miura, 59, scores world record goal

Japanese football icon Kazuyoshi Miura, affectionately known as "King Kazu," has achieved a remarkable feat, scoring his first competitive goal in almost four years at the age of 59. The former Dinamo Zagreb player netted a goal in the 52nd minute for Fukushima United during their 7-0 victory over Iwaki Furukawa in the Emperor's Cup. This goal, scored at 59 years and 149 days old, sets a new world record for the oldest goalscorer in professional football leagues.

The strike was Miura's first competitive goal since November 2022, when he scored for Suzuka in a Japanese Football League match. The veteran forward, who previously played for Dinamo Zagreb, has extended his loan with third-division side Fukushima United until June 2027.
